The Suicide Machine

21 01 2010

I am astonished over where the world is going. My friend A send me a link about a suicide machine available to erase yourself from 4 of the big social media used today, facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and MySpace. In 52 minutes, you can erase all your private information and your contacts within this communities.

This site was really inspiring for me. A critical design, from a point of view, and I am very curious of how many users a day, using it, to erase themselves from the Internet. I think I have to mail them and ask.

When visiting the site, you meet this paragraph:

“Tired of your Social Network?

Liberate your newbie friends with a Web2.0 suicide! This machine lets you delete all your energy sucking social-networking profiles, kill your fake virtual friends, and completely do away with your Web2.0 alterego. The machine is just a metaphor for the website which moddr_ is hosting; the belly of the beast where the web2.0 suicide scripts are maintained. Our service currently runs with Facebook, Myspace, Twitter and LinkedIn! Commit NOW!”

It was very interesting to read the letter facebook mailed them, when they found out that this machine existed. Probably afraid that it would affect them if it is spread. I do not blame them, but I think this suicide machine is a great innovative invention. But I have some things I should change to make it even better.

Visit the site and look at the video. It is definetely a must.
